Sorry, we’re sold out — we’re working hard to restock GP Rubber as soon as possible!

Adjustable Support System

For unprocessed sheets, Each GP rubber sheet is reinforced with multiple layers of fine wire-mesh. This unique construction allows you to customize the support and rigidity of your shoe soles. By sanding away different amounts of the wire-mesh, you can fine-tune the balance between stiffness and softness:

  • Leave more mesh: Creates a stiffer, more supportive sole for edging power and long days on steep or slab terrain.

  • Leave less mesh: Reduces rigidity for maximum softness and sensitivity, perfect for smearing, volumes, and technical footwork.

This built-in adjustability makes GP rubber unlike any other climbing sole material — letting you decide exactly how your shoes perform.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • GP Rubber is crafted entirely from 100% recycled racing slick tires, delivering exceptional performance while championing sustainability. This innovative material combines the high-grip properties essential for climbing with an eco-conscious approach, reducing waste and promoting circular resource use. By transforming retired racing tires into premium climbing rubber, GP Rubber sets a new standard for durability, traction, and environmental responsibility in the outdoor gear industry.

  • Yes! We’re currently working on getting other resole shops to carry GP Rubber. If your local shop doesn’t yet, let them know—we’re expanding availability. You can also contact us directly for help finding a partner.

  • Unprocessed sheets come with a natural backing that still needs sanding before they can be cut and applied to shoes. Processed sheets have already been pre-sanded by us, giving them a clean, uniform surface that’s ready for cutting and resoling right away. Choosing processed saves you time and labor, while unprocessed sheets give you the flexibility to handle prep work yourself.

  • While we can’t share the exact compound we use, what we can say is that not all racing slicks are made the same. The particular formulation we work with is one that retains its softness and friction at room and outdoor climbing temperatures, without needing the extreme heat of a racetrack. This allows GP Rubber to feel naturally tacky and reliable the moment you step on the wall.

  • All our GP series rubbers are softer but denser than most climbing rubbers, making even our softest options last longer. GP2 holds edges very well, while GP1 and GP1-PRO offer a good mix of stickiness and durability.

  • Each GP rubber sheet measures 5.9 inches (15 cm) wide by 27.5 inches (70 cm) long by 0.15 inches. After processing, they’ll measure around 0.14 inches (3.5mm) thick depending on how much is sanded. This size provides enough material for multiple resoles, depending on shoe size and style.

  • The “GP” stands for Grand Prix, a nod to their racing-slick origins. The numbers and naming reflect the durometer hardness and intended use: softer for grip, firmer for edging.

  • Yes. Every sheet of GP Rubber repurposes materials from motorsport tires that would otherwise end up as waste. Choosing RATOM means choosing performance and sustainability.
